There can be a thousand reasons why you’re putting your home on the market, and I am here to support your goals no matter the reason. Using data analysis, I will help you settle on a price that supports your goals and meets market expectations. If it’s an emotional journey - I’m a shoulder to cry on as well. I am your biggest advocate and will continue to fight for your best interest, even after it’s sold.

HiStoric PROpERties
Big or small, I love them all!
One of the things Portland locals love most are our charming historic neighborhoods and beautiful homes. While I enjoy all forms and eras of architecture —I mean, who doesn’t love a mid-century time capsule!— I am particularly versed and interested in pre-1940 properties. Think lots and lots of built-ins, beautiful trimwork, a high level of craftsmanship and established landscaping.
About a third of properties in the Portland area were built before 1940 and 98% before 1978 (the year lead based paint was banned)! Being informed is key. If you own an older home - you already know!
Historic homes need a little bit of extra attention to ensure they last well into the future, but it’s well worth it.

a few things to consider when buying an older home:
Understand repair costs: If you’re looking at a home which hasn’t been totally gutted and rebuilt in the past 10 years, you need to be aware of the cost for repair. Things to keep an eye on are sewer lines, oil tanks, roofs, asbestos, lead paint, and electric and plumbing. For example: is it possible to install a dishwasher or does the plumbing need to be updated first? Something that seems like an easy fix could easily come with a hefty price tag if you’re not careful.
Is this home on the historic register? If so, can I knock down that kitchen wall or remove the trim? What is allowed, what is not?
What (if any) tax exemptions were granted on this property and for how long?
Find inspectors and contractors experienced in historic building practices. They will be familiar with common issues that arise in older homes and know what it takes to fix them properly.
Is the foundation seismically retrofitted (bolted)? Is a radon mitigation system installed? Is the oil tank fully decommissioned? It’s important to be aware of local guidelines for creating safe living spaces.
